Bandwidth Saver
April 5, 2005Worried about the effect a popular podcast could cause you? The Free Bandwidth Project is here to help.
We provide free bandwidth for your video, podcast, software download, or any other file you want to post. We will support downloads of any quantity and are adding infrastructure to support very large volumes of downloads.
The first step is to sign-up and register your website. Now when you publish a podcast just enter the location of the file on your hosting sites web address and add the following: .freebandproject.com.
Example: http://podcaster.blogsome.com.freebandproject.com/uploads/podcast_0506.mp3

I feel leary on this one. This quote about why anti-spyware programs might label them as spyware, “Inevitably, one of those tools will because they label virtually all downloads as spyware.” is very slippery and definitely not true because virtually all downloads are NOT labeled as spyware (Think AIM, Java VM, Flash, ftp clients, firefox, etc.). Why would they say this unless it is to get users to believe that their anti-spyware software is acting incorrectly. While it has been known to happen they all anti-spyware companies have processes that allow challenges to their decisions and it is very rare that they are incorrect.
This is not really podcasting in the true sense because users seem to be required to click on links to download files. Also, they do not show screenshots of the download software or list it’s features so there is no way to evaluate what is really going on.
Seems like a cute way to promote spyware to me.
