Most people nowadays not only just have a normal mobile phone, it is not uncommon to see a class full of students with camera/video features built it. The functionality allows them to record a Podcast. To do this via your mobile phone, record a sound clip and insert it into a MMS/Email message. Next step is in send it to your email address. New MMS Once you log-in to your email you will see the message and your number to go along side it. Click to open and view the attachments. View Attachments Now you will see the recorded .amr file along with the smil file. This smil file is just data and is sent with all MMS messages - so take no notice of it. All you have to do is click the download button and choose the folder that you will to save it in. Remember to save under all files, it save as 3GPP you will be unable to convert to wav.

Pick Folder

Now it is stored on your computer.

Download File

The file will now download to the specified location. Once the download is complete, click close. Clicking open with give you an error from your media player.

Opening AMR

Next step is to download the following zip file, install it on your system, once you click on it to open, you will see four major options, the first one AMR to WAVE is the one you need to click. You will now be shown to following screen:

AMR to WAV Converter

You will be asked to browse your directory and file the amr file. You will now see the output file as being wav. Now Click the convert now button, this screen will come into view:

AMR to WAV MDOS

Now it will convert the file right in front of you using MDOS. This process can vary depending on the file size.

AMR Converted

Once completed this screen will appear, showing the time it took and the finish button for you to click. AMR and WAV Now when you look in your directory you will see the newly converted WAV along with the orignal AMR file. You can now test it out in real player to see what it sounds like. The next step is to convert the wav file to MP3.

To do this you will need to install Piver Past Wav, which is free and allows for unlimited conversions unlike some others I have tried. Once you open the program you will see the following:

WAV to MP3

Click browse as select your wav file, finally hit convert. In a few short seconds you will have a MP3 ready to upload and make available as a Podcast. AMR to WAV to MP3Now when you look in your directory you will see three files, the orignal amr, the wav (which can be use to edit the file if need be) and finally the MP3 file. 1. Or the other way… Podcasting to Mobile Phones! (No MP3 player required)

Here’s a freeware add-on to iPodder that exports the Podcast to the Mobile Phone audio format (AMR). This way, everyone can listen in to Podcast, even without an MP3 player, or an MP3 mobile!!
